This week, we're highlighting Trips, a powerful SAFEhugg feature designed to help family members, friends, and loved ones stay connected during travel.

Whether you're driving across town, traveling for work, taking a road trip, or sending a family member on a long journey, Trips helps selected Guardians stay informed from departure to arrival, providing added awareness and support throughout the journey.

What Is Trips?

Trips allows users to share their travel progress with selected Guardians, called Tripmates, for the duration of a specific journey.

Unlike continuous location sharing, Trips is designed to monitor a single trip from one destination to another. Once the trip is complete, monitoring ends automatically.

This gives users the ability to stay connected and supported while traveling without sharing their location 24 hours a day.

During the Trip, Tripmates can view real-time travel progress and receive automatic updates similar to the experience of tracking a rideshare trip.

During an active Trip, selected Guardians can monitor travel progress in real time and receive notifications if important travel events occur, including:

• Unexpected stops lasting longer than 15 minutes

• Delays that affect arrival time

• Route changes that impact arrival time

• Safe arrival at the destination

Trips helps keep trusted people informed during travel while ensuring location sharing ends when the journey is complete.

Real-Life Example: A Teen Driving Home

For many parents, one of the most stressful moments is waiting for a child to arrive home safely.

Imagine your teenager is driving home after a sporting event, a late-night study session, or an evening with friends.

Instead of repeatedly texting or calling to ask where they are, a Trip can be started before they leave.

Parents can follow travel progress, know where their child is headed, and receive updates if unexpected delays or route changes occur along the way.

Once they arrive safely, the Trip automatically completes and Guardians receive an arrival notification confirming they have reached their destination.

No constant check-ins.

No distractions while driving.

Just better awareness throughout the journey.

Supporting Loved Ones During Long-Distance Travel

Trips can also be valuable for adults traveling alone, family members taking long drives, or loved ones who may benefit from additional support while on the road.

For example, a spouse traveling for work may start a Trip before driving to another city. Family members can stay informed during the journey and receive updates if travel takes longer than expected.

An aging parent taking a longer drive can also use Trips to keep family members informed without requiring frequent phone calls or status updates.

Trips can also be valuable for outdoor activities. Whether someone is taking a solo hike, riding a bike through town, mountain biking on remote trails, or enjoying a long walk, Tripmates can follow their progress and receive updates throughout the journey. It's an easy way to stay connected when adventures take you beyond the usual route.

Travel often involves people we care about heading off on their own, whether it's a child, spouse, parent, friend, or coworker.

Trips helps keep everyone connected throughout the journey by providing meaningful updates along the way, allowing loved ones to stay informed and available if support is ever needed.

How Trips Helps Guardians Stay Informed

Travel doesn't always go according to plan.

Road construction, traffic, weather, unexpected detours, and unplanned stops can all affect a trip.

Trips helps Guardians stay informed when changes occur.

If a traveler stops for more than 15 minutes without pausing the Trip, selected Guardians receive a notification encouraging them to check in and make sure everything is okay.

If travel delays, route changes, or other circumstances affect the estimated arrival time, Guardians receive updates so they can stay informed throughout the journey.

Guardians are also notified when the traveler safely reaches their destination, helping bring every journey to a clear conclusion.

This added visibility can help reduce uncertainty and provide valuable context when plans change.

Travel With Confidence, Not Constant Check-Ins

Most travel ends exactly as planned.

But when it doesn't, having trusted people who are informed and connected can make all the difference.

Trips provide an easy way to keep loved ones informed during travel without requiring constant texts, phone calls, or location sharing around the clock.

Whether you're driving across town, traveling for work, taking a road trip, riding a bicycle, mountain biking on a trail, heading out for a walk, or taking a hike, Trips helps selected Guardians stay informed from departure to arrival, providing added awareness and support throughout the journey.

Because support shouldn't begin only when something goes wrong.

It should be available throughout the journey.

Coming Next Week

Next week, we'll explore Hangouts, a feature designed to help groups stay connected during shared activities and events.

Whether you're attending a concert, traveling with friends, enjoying a night out, participating in a group outing, or spending time with family, Hangouts helps everyone stay informed and connected throughout the experience.

We'll show how Hangouts can provide an added layer of awareness, communication, and support when people are spending time together.

Because sometimes safety isn't about traveling alone.

It's about staying connected with the people you're with.
