SAFEhugg Feature Spotlight: Places & Live Location Sharing

Features Series - Feature #3

Welcome back to the SAFEhugg Feature Spotlight Series.

If you missed our previous feature spotlights, be sure to check them out:

This week, we're highlighting two powerful SAFEhugg features that help families, friends, and loved ones stay connected every day: Places and Live Location Sharing.

While both features involve location awareness, they serve very different purposes and work together to help people stay informed, connected, and supported.

What Is Places?

Places helps families, friends, coworkers, and loved ones stay connected, informed, and supported through automatic location-based notifications.

Users can create multiple Places and give each one a meaningful name, such as:

  • Home
  • School
  • Work
  • Grandma's House
  • Soccer Practice
  • Bus Stop
  • After-School Program
  • Best Friend's House

Once a Place is created, SAFEhugg quietly monitors activity and automatically notifies selected Guardians when important events occur.

Instead of relying on text messages, phone calls, check-ins, or constantly monitoring someone's location, SAFEhugg automatically keeps the people you choose informed when someone:

  • Arrives at a location

  • Leaves a location

  • Is not where they are expected to be

  • Remains at a location longer than expected

Instead of constantly asking, "Did you make it?" or "Are you home yet?" SAFEhugg provides automatic alerts that help everyone stay connected and informed.

Real-Life Example: Keeping Up with Busy Families

Life gets busy.

Kids go to school, sports practices, friends' houses, after-school activities, and part-time jobs. Parents spend a lot of time coordinating schedules and checking in to make sure everyone arrives safely.

With Places, those check-ins happen automatically.

Imagine your child leaves for school every morning. SAFEhugg can notify you when they arrive at school, when they leave at the end of the day, and even alert you if they aren't where they're expected to be.

Instead of sending texts throughout the day asking, "Did you make it?" or "Where are you?" the app keeps everyone informed automatically.

It's one less thing for parents to worry about and one less thing for kids to remember.

Supporting Aging Parents and Loved Ones

Places can also provide an added layer of awareness for aging parents, grandparents, or loved ones who live independently.

For example, a family member may create Places for home, a doctor's office, a grocery store, or a community center.

If a loved one arrives safely, family members can receive a notification. If they remain somewhere much longer than expected or don't arrive where they planned to go, SAFEhugg can provide an early indication that someone may need to check in.

It's not about monitoring someone's every move.

It's about helping families stay connected and aware when it matters most.

What Is Live Location Sharing?

While Places helps keep loved ones informed about important locations, sometimes you want visibility during the journey itself. That's where Live Location Sharing comes in.

Live Location Sharing provides real-time visibility when additional awareness and support are needed. Users can share their location with selected Guardians for as long as they choose, allowing trusted family members, friends, or Buddies to follow their location in real time.

This feature can be especially helpful when:

  • Traveling alone
  • Meeting someone new
  • Walking at night
  • Coordinating with family members
  • Attending events or concerts
  • Providing additional reassurance during uncertain situations

Places and Live Location Sharing can work together to provide even greater awareness and connection.

While Places automatically alerts you when someone arrives at or leaves an important location, Live Location Sharing helps you stay connected during the journey in between.

For example, a parent may receive a notification that their child has left school through Places. From there, Live Location Sharing can provide real-time visibility during the trip home. Once the child arrives safely, Places automatically sends another notification confirming they have reached their destination.

Together, these features help families stay connected from departure to arrival without constant phone calls, text messages, or check-ins. Whether it's a child coming home from school, a loved one traveling alone, or an aging parent running errands, Places and Live Location Sharing provide an added layer of awareness, connection, and support for the people who matter most.

Everyday Safety Starts with Everyday Awareness

Not every safety concern is an emergency.

Sometimes it's simply wanting to know that a child made it to school.

That an elderly parent arrived home safely.

That a loved one reached their destination.

Places and Live Location Sharing help keep the people who matter most connected through automatic updates and real-time visibility when needed.

Because feeling supported shouldn't only happen during emergencies.

It should happen every day.
