🤗 Feature Spotlight #1: Guardians & Buddies
In today's world, many people feel disconnected, even from the people who care about them most.
Life gets busy. We head to work, travel, attend school, care for our families, and juggle countless responsibilities every day. Yet most of us still want the same thing: to know that someone is there for us and that the people we care about are safe.
SAFEhugg was created to bring people closer together through meaningful connections, support, and protection. Think of it as a virtual hug that travels with you wherever life takes you.
That's why Guardians and Buddies are at the heart of the SAFEhugg experience.
💙 Guardians are the trusted people you choose to be part of your circle of care and support. They can be family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, classmates, or anyone you trust.
💙 From your Guardians, you can select up to four Buddies to become your inner circle of support. These are the people you'd call first if something didn't feel right. The people who would answer at any hour. The people who would drop everything if they knew you needed help.
Together, Guardians and Buddies create a powerful support system that helps you stay connected during everyday life and provides additional support when you need it most.
What Guardians Do
✔ Stay connected throughout the day

✔ Know when you've arrived safely
✔ Stay informed during trips and travel
✔ Help provide support when needed
What Makes Buddies Special
In addition to all Guardian capabilities, Your Buddies have special privileges:
✔ Receive your daily "I'm OK" and "I'm Not OK" check-ins
✔ Receive alerts when you activate Buddy 4 Support or a real emergency through the Alert Bear Button
✔ Monitor your live location with step-by-step directions to find you if needed
✔ View live video during situations of concern or emergency
✔ Receive critical updates during an event
✔ Communicate with you in real time
✔ Help coordinate a response when support is needed
Real-Life Examples to Help Understand Buddies Privileges
Buddies 4 Support Button
Sarah is walking to her car after work and notices someone following behind her. She taps Buddy 4 Support.
Instantly, her Buddies receive an alert, can see her live location and video feed, and stay connected until she's safely on her way home.
Nothing serious ends up happening.
But Sarah never had to face the situation alone.
Emergency Alert Huggy Button
John is involved in a real emergency and activates the Alert Huggy Button.
His Buddies immediately receive his location and critical updates, while SAFEhugg users in the surrounding area and local authorities can also be alerted to help coordinate a response.
When every second matters, the people who care about him most know exactly where he is and can help ensure assistance gets to him as quickly as possible.
Together, Guardians and Buddies help ensure you're never navigating life alone.
Because sometimes the greatest comfort comes from knowing someone is looking out for you. And sometimes the greatest gift you can give someone is letting them know you're looking out for them too. Invite your family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones to join SAFEhugg and start building your circle of support today.
How to Add Guardians:
This is for non-family members only, to add family members see next section.
Step 1: Open the app. Tap the Shield icon located in the bottom horizontal menu bar
Step 2: Tap on the Invite button located at the far top right of the app window
Step 3: Tap Search Phone Contacts (if you haven’t already, go to phone Settings, Apps,
scroll to the SAFEhugg app, tap Contacts, and allow Limited or Full Access,
then return to the app.
Step 4: Select contacts you'd like to invite. The app will create a text with a link for them
to use to download the app.
How to Add Family Members:
Do not invite as a guardian, but invite through the family plan so their account will be free.
Step 1: Open the app and tap your profile picture in the upper-left corner of the home screen
Step 2: Scroll down and tap Packages.
Step 3: Select Family/Group Package to view your Family Code and invitation screen.
Step 4: Send an invite to your family member by tapping the share button or sending them a screen shot of your QR code. When you use the share button it will automatically text them a link to download the app.
Step 5: Have your family member use the QR code to download and open the app, create a profile, and add you as a guardian. They will have access to all the features.
How to Choose Your Four Buddies:
After you've added them as either a Guardian or a Family Member.
You can designate up to four Buddies. These are the trusted people who will receive your Buddy 4 Support requests, daily "I'm OK" and "I'm Not OK" check-ins, and Emergency Alert Huggy Button notifications.
Step 1: Tap the Guardians icon.
Step 2: Find the Guardian you want to designate as one of your four Buddies.
Step 3: Tap their profile picture to open the options menu.
Step 4: Select Add to Your Four.
